"You are My Sunshine" Collage and Mixed Media.

I created this collage while taking a workshop with Julia Malakoff. This class broadened my creativity as I made something so very different than watercolors! Now I find that these designs and techniques sometimes show up in my paintings.

And, yes, my paper collection is still growing! I now look at paper differently and junk mail too! Have you seen the security envelope designs?!

These 0 calorie donuts in my sketchbook were inspired by the delicious Duck Donuts in Duck, NC and also in Springfield. I started this on a toned brown background. I added watercolor, both transparent and opaque, to build up the different frostings. Colored pencils and a white pen added the colorful shininess to the toppings! What's your favorite one?

This is a half-timber house in Dinan, France, where I spent a month as an Artist in Residence. I painted 6 of these remaining buildings in the town. Yes, they ARE really wonky! And yes, I used my artistic license to paint the colors.
